Macromolecular crystallography

Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) is widely recognised as the most powerful method for determining the structures of large biological molecules such as proteins. The Cryostream from Oxford Cryosystems, in its 500, 600, 700 and 700 series forms, has helped to solve the structure of thousands of proteins over the last 30 years.

Today, the Cryostream is the system of choice for cooling crystals to 100 Kelvin for macromolecular crystallography, with low cost of ownership and long service intervals.

For labs with higher throughput, however,  or for whom liquid nitrogen can present problems, our Cobra system uses an integrated GM cooler to provide base temperatures of 80 K without liquid nitrogen.
