Xcell xenon pressure chamber
In conjunction with the University of Oxford, Oxford Cryosystems has developed a xenon pressure chamber to easily produce xenon heavy atom derivatives for macromolecular x-ray crystallography.
The Xcell has been designed by the crystallographers at the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics to be as economical, reliable and easy to use as possible. Features of the Xcell include:
- Highly portable due to compact size and weight (approx 1.5kg)
- Chamber can be pressurised and vented without damage to the crystal sample
- A small dead volume (approx. 10cc) minimises the consumption of expensive xenon gas
- Safety features include a pre-set relief valve allowing a maximum operating pressure of 25 bar
- Safety tested to 55 bar
- Designed to accommodate all common loop mounting systems
